Understanding Color in the World of Threads and Fabrics

Ever wonder why the fabric you bought in the store doesn't look the same when you get it home? Or, why the thread you worked hard to select is not the color you anticipated when you sew it into the fabric? Join us for this exciting presentation on understanding the ins and outs of color as it relates to threads and fabrics. Here you will learn how we perceive color, how to match colors in different types of fabrics, how to match threads to swatches, match solids to multi-colored fabrics, how not to be fooled by colors in different illuminations, proper lighting and viewing conditions for your sewing room, and much more. Attend this class and fortify your confidence for your next sewing or quilting project. This hour-and-a-half presentation will be given by Roger Siminoff, a seasoned color science expert who is also an embroidery digitizer and long-arm quilter.
BIO: Roger Siminoff has spent more than four decades in the graphic arts industry where controlling accurate color is a key to success. Roger's strong background in color and color science allowed him to play a key role at Radius and Silicon Graphics where he was an industry expert working with major publishers in the area of accurate color matching and reproduction. Roger also worked with the color engineering department at Apple where he lectured to graphic arts audiences around the world on the many facets of color management. Roger is married to a seasoned quilter, and he also loves sewing, fabric hunting, digitizing for embroidery, and operating his long-arm quilting machine..

Kids Summer Sewing Camp
Summer is almost here! Kids will be out of school and looking for SEW MUCH FUN! It's here at our KIDS SUMMER SEWING CAMP! Girls and boys ages 8-12 will have a great time, learn basic sewing skills and even win prizes!

Haute Cuisine from Embroidery Online. These designs can be put on kitchen towels ,aprons, tablerunner, tablecloths, or framed in a picture. Note that this is embroidery applique. You will need fabric to add to the embroidery designs.

On Monday, January 15th....I had the privilege of attending a YLI Presentation by Jane Garrison in Santa Maria, Ca at Santa Maria Sewing. It was Excellent!!! Jane Garrison did a terrific job....she was friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. I will highly recommend her to anyone. I hope that she will come to this area again. She is truly an inspiration to all who sew.

Thanks for all your educational support, I finally feel proud of something I made. Before it was lots of pulling, lots of broken threads, etc and very frustrating results. Now that I know proper stabilizers for washable items and # of layers needed, needle replacement (sooner than I was doing it), etc. I'm getting way better results.. Yippee... Thanks Teacher!
